Back February, a tale broke from popular British mag Attitude entitled, “Young Queer individuals should not need to worry about LGBT History”.
This article, by Dylan Jones, contends that queer young ones are actually “treated in much the same manner as other kids”, they usually have out and proud queer part models, and generally are getting into a more accepting world than those who came before them. Therefore, they must be permitted to be “carefree” rather than keep the burden that older generations perform some burden of buddies and lovers lost into the AIDS crisis, the struggle of fighting for equal liberties, the staggering numbers of LGBTQ+ suicides and drug abuse, the pity and punishment suffered due to what continues to be a predominantly heteronormative culture.
